The Weston King Neighbourhood Centre (WKNC) provideS essential services and support to vulnerable and marginalized individuals. People affected by the social and economic barriers in our community can always find help here.

Our mission is to provide a response to the people within our community who are coping with economic or social barriers. To help lessen those barriers and the burden of poverty for the communities of Weston and Mount Dennis.

In our Weston location, WKNC provides fresh breakfast and lunch meals to participants from Monday to Saturday and offers Tuesday evening dinner as well. In addition, there are once-a-week groceries for participants Tuesday at 12:00 pm. There are showers for use, laundry machines and dryers, harm reduction kits, housing services, some clothing items, puzzles and board games, a phone, a photocopier, and a fax machine.

We can offer all of this thanks to the support of our sponsors, partners, and donors. Their donations of food items, clothing, and money ensure that we can serve our community consistently with the services they need.

Unfortunately we have had to close this location due to a significant increase in the rent.    We continue to look for a new location and ways to serve our participants in the Mount Dennis Area.

Our Mount Dennis location has a community commercial kitchen with a focus on food access. Part of our vision includes a model where everyone is a volunteer: anyone that comes in can help with food preparation, serving, site maintenance, and any other activity common to the community centre. This could mean attending a lesson on diabetic cooking, helping to cook, and then eating the tasty results! But, even if you don’t want to cook we provide two free drop-in Community meals a week.

Another part of the vision is to build trusted partnerships with other organizations who can use the space for programming – our kitchen space is our community space. In partnership with Unison, MDNC also provides harm reduction supplies including safe-use kits, hygiene kits, condoms, and Naloxone. No appointment is necessary, feel free to drop in!
